About

A few years back, a fellow knitter friend brought me back a tin of bacon-flavored bubblegum from a trip to the Pacific Northwest (I think. Hey, I didn't go on the trip!). It was a bit of a gag gift, as the bubblegum was the most nasty stuff you could ever imagine putting in your mouth, but the tin remained behind. He told me, "I thought you could put your knitting notions in it". Genius! It was just the size I needed for a tiny pair of scissors, a tape measure, cable needle, stitch holder, and a few of my handmade stitch markers. It immediately became the most invaluable tool in my knitting bag, and I started trying to figure out how I could share this tiny tin of treasures with other knitters.

Fast-forward a few months, and you'll find me sitting in my studio, discouraged after many false starts, when a lightbulb came on: Why not make MY OWN tins, all themed around knitting? I grabbed every piece of knitwear I had in my house and started snapping photos, and in January 2011, The Sexy Knitter officially opened  on Etsy.

In the time that has followed, my products have been highlighted by Interweave Knits, the YarnHarlot's blog, The LA Times, Knitscene, Your Knitting Life!, The Knitter, and Knit Today! Magazine. I've expanded my original line of 10 Knitter's Tool Tins to over 100 styles, added stitch marker bracelets, beaded scissor necklaces, mini skeins, needle gauges, project bags, and my entire line of knitting patterns. In 2013, I introduced wholesale pricing for brick-and-mortar shops, and The Sexy Knitter became my full time job.
